The new Acoustic Shell Installed on the Symphony Hall Stage at Auditorio de Tenerife
The acoustic shell of the Auditorio de Tenerife is the largest in Europe and offers numerous benefits for the Symphony Orchestra. This particular shell was designed to reinforce the stage support and the connection between the orchestra and the audience, while also reducing the risk of hearing damage caused by high levels of sound reflections directed towards the musicians. These benefits were achieved through the application of bespoke surfaces.
Our design approach allows us to create walls that provide controlled reflections, reducing the impact of sound within the most sensitive hearing range. We incorporate the latest technology, including micro-perforated acoustic panels to achieve optimal results.
For Conductors…
One of the biggest contributions of an acoustic shell is the positive impact that is reflected on musicians and in their performing abilities. This is made possible by the improvement in communication between them and the conductor, along with the enhanced stage support. An acoustic shell provides controlled sound reflections with a touch of color, allowing the conductor to perceive each instrument with better definition. As a result, they can exert better control over the dynamics of each performer.
For Theatre Technicians…
The most important factor for theatre technicians is time. With these types of towers, you can set up the stage in less than an hour (based on each case), including the ceiling diffusers. Additionally, the Tenerife Shell was designed with 5 configurations, allowing the orchestra to accommodate performances ranging from 10 to 70 musicians, along with the choir.
